Like the new logo? We're cleaning up our act around here. But you can read about our updates at the bottom of this thing. Let's talk some hockey.
The Chicago Blackhawks didn't hold practice today, according to Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times. There's no update on Teuvo Teravainen. But he's someone I want to talk about.

If you're not sure how to read that, let me help. The blue lines going to the right indicate above average. The orange indicates below average. The "middle" is 0, or average across the NHL. Teuvo has a lot of below-average marks according to All Three Zones data.
Teuvo has spent most of his time in Chicago playing in the middle six. That hasn't changed with Jeff Blashill. A pass-first winger, I lamented loudly that Teuvo needs to play with Bedard. That was last season.
He does have a roster spot on Team Finland for the Olympics, which means that he could be saving his real effort for something more meaningful. But I'm not really buying that. Maybe he's been dealing with an injury, and last night's loss to Edmonton aggravated it.
All I'm saying is, I want to be whining about how he's not playing with Bedard. He hasn't really given me cause to do so.
NHL News
With the Blackhawks news front quiet, let's take a quick look around the league.
- Dean Evason was fired as head coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Rick Bowness replaced him. The Blue Jackets are last in the East with a 19-19-7 record and are 5-4-1 in their last 10 games. Despite being last, the firing comes as a surprise. I don't think there were any rumors regarding this.
- Brayden Point did not return after appearing to hurt his leg in Tampa Bay's 5-1 win over the Florida Panthers on Monday. There's no update on Point, but if he is injured, this could open a spot for Connor Bedard to play on Team Canada.
- For those into prospects, Gavin McKenna is still the consensus No. 1 according to the scouts' midterm rankings.
- Patrick Kane is four points away from passing Mike Modano as the top-scoring USA-born player.
Website Updates
New logo is done. It's simple. Nothing special.
- Right now, we're just making sure the newsletter is up to speed. If you noticed, we have an official domain now (fromthepoint.cc).
- Check out our Instagram. I'm figuring out how I want posts to be there. It's a fine line between making it a "grind" and making it fun.
- I created a new page on the website, which you can see here. There's a list of websites, blogs, and podcasts that I frequent to quench my thirst for knowledge.
That's all for today. Those who receive the newsletter will get it by the end of the day. Thanks for being here.
